Team SMG Wakeboarders

Ryan Free

My names Ryan Free and I live and ride on Lake Lanier in Gainesville, GA. I've been riding for about 5 years now and love every second of it! I spend most of my days either working or hanging out on the lake with my friends. I currently ride behind a Malibu Wakesetter 24/7 and couldn't wish for a better boat!  The board I ride is the Liquid Force Lyman 139 with Watson bindings but anything Liquid Force is fine in my book! I love the feeling of waking up in the morning heading down to the dock with some friends with nothing on the agenda all day but wakeboard and have some fun. Look forward to seeing you out there! - Ryan Free

Cori Wagoner

This summer i am looking forward to learning some new tricks, riding at wet wednesday and hanging out on the lake with the SMG team!

Shelby King

Hi! I'm Shelby King. I am 13 years old and have been wakeboarding since I was 5. Wakeboarding is something our whole family enjoys including my grandparents, parents, brother and sister! I am so excited to be a part of the SMG team. I am really looking forward to Wet Wednesday rides and upcoming competitions this summer. I am so excited to continue to learn and improve my wakeboarding skills. I am happiest when I am out on a beautiful day with smooth water and I have just landed my backroll! I give thanks to God everyday for giving me the opportunity to be able to enjoy this amazing sport! - Shelby King

Anna Hedges

Although I did not have many opportunities growing up to spend time on the lake, I took advantage of every one that came my way. I found that just being on the lake made me come alive and allowed me to escape from the "world". My first time ever on a wakeboard was at the old age of 27. I had the privilege of learning behind a 2007 Malibu VLX, but at the time did not realize what a gift that was!! Even though I didn't really know what I was doing I immediately fell in love with the sport and wanted to progress. Until I met my husband, Brad Hedges, and began riding with him my riding was what he called "out of control." Since meeting him and several other riders on the SMG team I have learned to control my riding and am thankful for the progress they have helped me to achieve. Wakeboarding is an amazing sport. I love it for many reasons: 1) It's fun. 2) It's great exercise. 3) You get to meet awesome people. 4) It's challenging 5) You get to do it on the lake! My husband and I purchased our first Malibu from SMG last October and feel blessed to have such a great group of people to work with. They have been very accommodating and have helped to make our boat buying experience a pleasure. I am very excited about this summer and am looking forward to spending time on the lake, and improving my riding. - Anna Hedges

Brad Hedges

I got involved with wakeboarding because God created me with this desire in my heart. I'm forever grateful for this amazing gift. Its a wonderful lifestyle and a great way to spend life here on earth...enjoying creation, sharing relationships, getting exercise and challenging your self mentally and physically. I started wakeboarding behind a jet ski when I was 16. I didn't even know what wakeboarding was, but my dad saw it on TV and figured I'd be good at it. So, we got one! Four Malibu's and eleven years later with countless incredible memories on the lake, I still long to get out on the water every free moment. It's a disconnect for me; I get out there and forget about the everyday problems of life. As always, Im excited about progression of my riding and everyone around me. - Brad Hedges

Jamie Graff

I got into wakeboarding back in 95' ish I think, with friend and business partner Chase Andrews and his dad Big 'Tidal Wave' Ted. Ted taught us how to trick, slalom on the course, air chair and wakeboard for the first time. A lot guys enjoy the contest side of the sport, but for me it's about having fun on the lake and pushing each other to try new tricks. There is nothing better than waking up early and hitting glassy water for the golden hour behind a meaty Wakesetter wake. My Mom has been my biggest supporter in my passion for wakeboarding by getting us into a Malibu Wakesetter VLX, I wouldn't be where I am without her sacrifice. For years, SMG has been there for me with the best wake products in the business and carries all of my favorite goodies from Liquid Force, REEF, Jet Pilot and Straight Line. With the release of "A Single Day" in 2010 and pushing forward with more unique events, like Wet Wednesdays, the Malibu Beach Party and rail jams, SMG Wake Shop has taken the reigns as the most progressive and involved wake shop in Atlanta. - Jamie Graff

Johnny Tobaben

My name is Johnny Tobaben. I love to have fun. I enjoy wakeboarding, surfing, snowboarding and working out. I also believe that every day is a gift from God so I try to enjoy every second of the day and live life to its fullest. Im very excited about having the opportunity to be a part of Singleton Marine Group and the SMG Wake Shop! I Love everything this company is doing with the sport I love, Wakeboarding!!! - Johnny Tobaben

David "Jimmy" Taylor

I have been waterskiing since I was 9. My dad bought his first boat when I was 8, and right away I wanted to ski. I got my first kneeboard for Christmas when I was eleven and was hooked right away. I grew up in Delaware and skied on the Chesapeake Bay, Delaware River and Indian River bay until moving to Georgia in 1999. I had been coming to Lake Lanier for a few years' prior visiting friends who had moved to Atlanta, so I already knew the riding scene here well. In 2004 I moved to Cumming where I live now and spend most of my riding time on Young Deer and Four Mile Creeks. While I have ridden many brands of kneeboards, I was sponsored by Hydroslide with a professional contract from 2001-2004 when the company was sold and the team folded. I still ride a Hydroslide Kaos board today. Along with Singleton Marine Group, I am sponsored by Liquid Force, Reef and Straightline.I am no longer a competitive rider but love getting to ride in the Wet Wednesday shows with the other Singleton riders. The highlight last year was getting to help film "A Single Day" by Remedy Films. As I have been riding as long as some of the other team members have been alive, I am glad to be given a chance by SMG to help keep the sport going. I work to pass my passion for riding along to my young son and daughter. - David "Jimmy" Taylor

I Just love being out on the water and having a great time, naturally I fell in love with wakeboarding, wakeskating, and wakesurfing! This is the start of my 8th season riding. It has been such a blast watching wake sports change so much over such a short period of time. I am looking forward to meeting lots of new people and sharing everything I have learned about such a fun sport with everyone I meet!
